In complete love

I love Makenna, don't get me wrong, but Cooper just has a different space occupied in my heart. I imagine it it the same way Makenna has Keith completely and 100% wrapped around her finger. Cooper, at least for now, is a mama's boy. He jumps and squeals when I go to get him in the morning. He about jumps out of his babysitter's arms when I show up in the afternoon to take him home. He laughs at just about any stupid thing I can come up with to do. He cuddles. Makenna has always loved to be held, but this boy loves to cuddle. And he love to kiss. At least he loves to kiss me. We need to teach him to close his mouth, but it is so cute, and warms my heart like nothing else. His personality has bloomed so much in the past few weeks. We know he is going to constantly be into something. Any door that is open, he enters the room. He has a hard time passing the stairs without attempting to climb them. Scout's water bowl is a constant target. But he is so much fun! He is so laid back and easy going. He is my meat and potatoes guy. Last night for Mother's day dinner we had hot dogs, broccoli slaw with blue cheese, baked beans, and corn. What did Makenna go for? The broccoli slaw (eating straight from the serving spoon no doubt) and corn, like 3 full ears of corn!! Cooper, well, he was all about the baked beans and the hot dog. How in the world can these two kids be any more different? Makenna was so quiet, Cooper has learned how to yell and squeal, and does so on a regular basis. Cooper plays ball, he rolls it back and forth with me. I love it. It is hard to believe at this point last year we had just found out that our paperwork was FINALLY approved. We were thinking that the wait was just beginning. Little did we know our book had already made it into Nikki's hands. It wasn't until may 14th that anyone knew he was a boy.

It is hard to fathom loving someone like I love Cooper. Cooper is a true answer to prayer. A little boy came close to entering our family before Makenna, but it wasn't to be. Even with that child not in our family, my heart attached to the idea of being a mom to a little boy. I distinctly where (Six Flags over Los Angles, in the kids section, taking a break with Makenna) we were when our worker told us Cooper was a boy. I will never forget. We already had the cowboy bedding from the first little boy, and knowing what I know now, I just bought that bedding about 2 and 1/2 years early. Hey, at least I was ahead at something. Being on the west coast just a couple of weeks before his birthday and just finding out about him really put me behind in everything else.

Doesn't he make a good lookin' cowboy? It couldn't have been any more perfect!

I can't wait to see what Cooper becomes. I know it will be great (no pressure Coop). His story is just too amazing for anything less. And he might hate all the kisses and hugs one day, so I will take all I can get now, but one thing I know is that he will forever and always own that area of my heart that I didn't even know existed.
